This Unreal Engine 5 documentation was what we handed to the lighting artists during Tall Wall’s Production. It’s highly related to our project pipeline, but there are some takeaways for general UE5 animation scenes setup. It’s a pipeline for importing .abc animation files from Autodesk Maya into UE5 and setting up materials from Adobe Substance Painter's texture map exports.

In this documentation, you can find:

  • Basic animation project setup in UE5

  • Import character animation’s .abc (Alembic Cache) file from Autodesk Maya to UE5 (geometry cache)

    • Connecting materials to the character animation (geometry cache)

  • Import FBX camera from Maya to UE5

  • Basic animation scene setup in UE5

  • Basic Sequencer setup

    • Squencer-related navigation

For anything stylized render-related, please go to Tech Art - Stylized Render in UE5
